National accounts are compiled using the definitions and methodology specified in the European System of Accounts 2010 (ESA 2010).
The main aggregates of the national accounts, produced on an annual and quarterly basis, include GDP compiled according to three approaches (production, expenditure and income). They also cover data related to population, employment and compensation, as well as the ECB-calculated implicit deflators, wealth and capital stock data for the total economy.
National accounts data are used by the ECB (and the ESCB) in projections, short-term forecasting and economic analyses.
