SDW Privacy Statement

The European Central Bank (ECB) and the Statistical Data Warehouse (SDW) are committed to user privacy. It only processes your personal data for the purposes described below; it does not divulge them for marketing purposes.

All personal data will be processed in accordance with the EU Data Protection Law. The ECB is the controller in the processing of the personal data collected while visiting the SDW. You consent to the processing by providing the personal data that is requested.

You can withdraw your consent at any time via the Statistical Information Request form with subject “SDW personal data” or by contacting the ECB’s Data Protection Officer (DPO) at dpo@ecb.europa.eu. Future processing of your personal information will stop once you have withdrawn your consent, but processing prior will remain lawful.

Information Collection

Information recorded by the SDW's servers

The recipients of your personal data will mainly be the SDW administrators and staff of Directorate General Statistics.

Log information - servers automatically record information that your browser sends whenever you visit SDW websites. These server logs may include information such as the date and time of your visit, your Internet Protocol address, the domain name, the type of browser and operating system used (if provided by the browser), the URL of the referring page (if provided by the browser), the object requested and the completion status of the request. The information the SDW collects is only used to compile statistics, on an aggregated basis, on the usage of this site. None of this information is reviewed at an individual level, nor associated with any other personal information.

SDW Log-in - registration on SDW websites is optional. If you choose not to register or actively provide personal information, you can still use SDW websites.

More information (e-mail and encrypted password) is collected and stored through SDW login for advanced features, such as creating and managing your own personalised PDF publications ("My Publications") and your own data selection ("My Data Groups"). Furthermore, your SDW news subscription preferences will be retained in case you subscribe to SDW news.

Cookies - cookies are small bits of data sent by a website server to the browser on your computer. The browser tells the server when you next visit that particular website. Cookies help storing the user preferences.

Information recorded by third party servers

Please note that the SDW is not responsible for the privacy policies or content on third-party websites. You are therefore encouraged to review their privacy policies, when visiting these websites.

Google Analytics - this website makes use of Google Analytics, an external service, to obtain statistics about the usage of the website. Log information collected by the SDW’s servers is also sent to servers operated by Google, and is used to provide the SDW with aggregated statistics about the number of browser visits, usage patterns, and searches performed on this website.

Google has its own privacy policy. Google self-certifies compliance with the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield framework that the U.S. Department of Commerce developed in consultation with the European Commission in order to meet the European ‘adequacy’ standard for privacy protection.
